Emissions legislation in Venezuela is based on earlier European and US standards. Emissions standards for light duty vehicles are equivalent to Euro 1 or to US Tier 0 with the choice of which standard to follow being given to the manufacturer.  Similarly, for heavy duty applications, a choice is given between Euro I and US EPA 91.
