US Federal - Stationary Engines
Status
Stationary engines were originally exempted from the non-road emissions regulations, but in 2006 the EPA adopted emissions standards known as New Source Performance Standards for stationary compression-ignition (CI) engines. These brought the emissions requirements for stationary diesel engines into line with those of non-road diesel engines. In 2008, the EPA finalised New Source Performance Standards for spark-ignition (SI) engines and these were partly harmonised with the regulations for non-road SI engines.
The EPA also promulgated a separate set of rules known as National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAPs); they impose limitations on CO and formaldehyde emissions from certain categories of new and existing stationary engines.
