Emissions legislation in Taiwan is the responsibility of the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA). Emissions standards are in place since 1987; compliance is required to either US or EU based standards. From 2012, Euro 5 equivalent emissions standards were introduced. Euro 6 equivalent standards were introduced on 1 September 2019 for diesel and gasoline light duty vehicles.
