Emissions legislation in Mexico is the responsibility of the Environment Ministry, SEMARNAT. The first regulation setting CO2 emissions standards for light duty vehicles was published in June 2013. A draft regulation containing updated CO2 emissions standards for light duty vehicles was published in September 2018, these were issued in final form in January 2024.
