Emissions legislation in Mexico is the responsibility of the Environment Ministry, SEMARNAT (Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources). The first regulation setting CO2 emissions standards for light duty vehicles was published in June 2013. A draft regulation containing updated CO2 emissions standards for light duty vehicles was published in September 2018, these were issued in final form in January 2024.
