Mandatory emissions standards for non-road diesel and gasoline engines and vehicles are in place; these are established by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. These standards are applicable to vehicles with power outputs ranging from 19 kW to 560 kW. Voluntary standards, established by the Land Engine Manufacturers Association, are applicable to handheld and non-handheld equipment of less than 19 kW output.
