Fuel economy legislation in India is developed and issued by the Ministry of Power and enforced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Fuel consumption standards for passenger vehicles are in place from 1 April 2017. Fuel consumption standards for medium and heavy duty vehicles came into effect on 1 April 2023.
