Status
The Ministry for the Environment and Natural Resources is responsible for emissions legislation in Iceland. The country is not currently a member of the European Union and it has withdrawn its application for membership. It does not have a significant automotive industry but it has emissions legislation which is applied to imported vehicles. For light duty vehicles the minimum standard is equivalent to US Tier 1 or Euro 1 (Euro 2 for LCVs) and for heavy duty vehicles the standard is equivalent to Euro II.
