Hong Kong - Heavy Duty Vehicles

Status

Since July 1997, when sovereignty was handed from the UK, Hong Kong has been a "Special Administrative Region" of the People's Republic of China. With this designation, Hong Kong has a large amount of legislative autonomy from China, including its own separate emissions regulations; emissions legislation is the responsibility of the Hong Kong Legislative Council.

Euro VI emissions standards were first introduced on 1 October 2018, for new registration of vehicles exceeding 9 t. All new heavy duty vehicles need to comply with Euro VI standards from 1 March 2021.
