EU - Stationary Engines

Status

Until December 2015, there was no centralised EU regulation covering emissions from stationary engines. A new directive entered into force in December 2015 and controls NOx, SOx and PM emissions from stationary engines between 1 MW and 50 MW within the European Union; this required transposition into national legislation by Member States. The EU is a signatory to the Gothenburg Protocol, which controls NOx emissions from stationary spark ignition engines from 1 MWth and compression ignition engines from 5 MWth.
