Emissions legislation in Costa Rica is the reponsibility of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes, MOPT) and the Ministry of Environment and Energy (Ministerio de Ambiente y Energía, MINAE). Euro 4 emissions standards currently apply for light duty vehicles.
