Emissions legislation in China is the responsibility of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) (formerly the Ministry for Environmental Protection (MEP)). Standards follow those of the European Union but with a significant time delay. Currently, China IV standards are in place, which apply, for new type approvals, from 1 July 2018.
