Vehicle emissions legislation in Canada is the responsibility of Environment Canada, a government organisation established in 1971 [1].
Current emission standards are equivalent to the US EPA Tier 2 legislation.  Alignment with US Tier 3 legislation will take effect from the 2017 model year.
