Emissions standards in Brazil are coordinated by IBAMA, Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis (Brazilian institute of the Environment and the Natural resources) and CONAMA, Conselho Nacional do Meio Ambiente (National Council for the Environment). PROMOT M5 emissions standards for motorcycles are currently being introduced, from 1 January 2023. PROMOT M4 standards were previously in place.
