Belgium - Passenger Cars & LDT
Status
Belgium is a member state of the European Union and is governed by EU laws. It's emissions legislation is, therefore, as shown in EU - Passenger Cars & LDT. EU CAFE requirements are described in the EU - Fuel Economy section. In common with many other countries, Belgium applies tax incentives to promote cars with lower CO2 emissions. However, Belgium's legislation is determined both at a federal level and, separately, in each of the three regions into which the country is divided: the Flemish Region, the Brussels Capital Region and the Walloon Region. There are wide differences in approach to CO2 based tax incentives between the regions.
