Responsibility for environmental regulation in Switzerland lies with the Bundesamt für Umwelt (BAFU) which is the Federal Office for the Environment, a part of the Federal Department of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications.

Switzerland has established air quality standards which form a part of the Ordinance on Air Pollution Control (OAPC).
