South Africa - Heavy Duty Vehicles

Status

Current emissions legislation in South Africa is equivalent to Euro II (known in South Africa as Euro 2). Plans to implement Euro IV (known as Euro 4) levels (missing out Euro III) have not been realised, due to problems with the supply of Euro IV fuels. Plans have been formulated which will involve a move directly from Euro II to Euro V equivalent standards. However, the move is envisaged to take place no later than 2020.
