Japan - Passenger Cars & LDT

Status

Emissions standards in Japan are the joint responsibility of the Ministry of Environment (MOE) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT). Current emissions standards for passenger cars and light duty trucks (LDTs) in Japan were introduced from 2018; these are based on the WLTP test cycles. Prior to these, the Post New Long Term standards were in place, since 2009.
