Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions regulations are in place in California for light duty and heavy duty vehicles:

  • Light Duty: LEV III standards have been developed in conjunction with the federal EPA and are applicable from 2017. LEV II standards applied prior to 2017. 
  • Heavy Duty: The Phase 1 EPA standards were adopted by California and are in place for model years 2014 to 2018. The California Air Resources Board jointly developed the Phase 2 standards with the federal authorities.
